about
"Despite what seems to be one big cliche saying, Neon Lovers is actually one of the most honest song I've ever written, in terms of lyrics. I suppose this song is trying to explain that back-and-forth feelings of a fickle love. The idea of falling in love with moments, but never really loving someone. And that's a frustrating idea, if anyone has ever been there.. Wanting to love somebody, but not feeling butterflies in your stomach every step of the way. The verses are very much times of frustration, times of annoyance and confusion. However, the chorus is only an anthem for someone trying to and understanding the push and pull of an inconsistent love." - Trey
lyrics
Heart of gold, she loved him through thick and thin.
Even when he's right, did he really win?
A broken soul, a broken stare, he couldn't say why he cared
I love you but you don't know what you're talking bout
Speak your mind, tell me off, can you shut your mouth?
I needed you then and I need you now,
It doesn't matter anyhow.
----
Hold me close, I won't go, and I know this won't make sense but it feels like we're Neon Lovers tonight.
Do you feel this? Can you feel it? Don't leave me. I know I'm out of time but it feels like we're Neon Lovers tonight.
---
I'll stop you there, things aren't how they used to be.
A diamond in the rough, but love doesn't come free.
I'll say it again, I'll say it now, our love was built on broken vows.
But there she goes, walking on broken glass,
Our Days went by slow, but left so fast.
I thought I understood all it takes,
But it just took one mistake.
---
Hold me close, I won't go, and I know this won't make sense but it feels like we're Neon Lovers tonight.
Do you feel this? Can you feel it? Don't leave me. I know I'm out of time but it feels like we're Neon Lovers tonight.
